The Adventures of Peddy Bottom

 

Zbiory związane z działalnością artystyczną Franciszki i Stefana Themersonów zostały przekazane przez Themerson Archive w Londynie. Stanowią część zbiorów Biblioteki Uniwersytetu Śląskiego. Funkcjonują pod nazwą „Kolekcja Franciszki i Stefana Themersonów” w oparciu o Zarządzenie Rektora Uniwersytetu Śląskiego.

Kolekcję tworzą materiały przekazane do Katowic z londyńskiego Themerson Archive przez Jasię Reichardt i Nicka Wadley'a. Zbiory obejmują m. in. książki Themersonów, publikacje prowadzonego przez Themersonów w Londynie wydawnictwa Gaberbocchus, oryginalne rysunki Stefana i Franciszki, projekty okładek książkowych, fotografie, bogaty zbiór obcojęzycznych czasopism awangardowych stanowiący niegdyś własność Stefana, rękopisy i maszynopisy, plakaty, a także memorabilia.

Digital Library of the University of Silesia contains digitized versions of more than 10 thousand contemporary works, including manuals, dictionaries, encyclopedias, literary texts, journals from all fields of knowledge. Due to copyright restrictions publications are available only on the computers within the library network of the University of Silesia.

Workplace with the equipment dedicated to the visually impaired is located in the individual study Carrel on the first level, next to the Multimedia reading room and the Computer Lab. It is equipped with the following hardware and software:

  • auto-reader (model Harpo, Epson Perfection V10)
  • Braille keyboard (model Alva BC 640),
  • large print PC keyboard,
  • Braille printer (model Everest D V4),
  • Super Nova Reader screen-reader and ZoomText (so called “loupe”) installed on the computer.
  • automatically opening doors,
  • elevator cab adapted for people on wheelchairs and blind/visually impaired
  • toilets for people with physical disabilities
  • corridors and rooms adapted for moving on wheelchairs,
  • non slip flooring
  • appropriate lighting and contrasting interior colours for easy mobility of the visually impaired,
  • places specially prepared for disabled readers and employees.
